📣 PA State Archives Closing for Summer
In case you missed it last week - The Archives is closing for research beginning May 22nd. And if you have a research-by-mail request, your last day is May 8th to submit it.
You see the full announcement on the PA State Archives website. Planned re-opening is September in the new building. They promised balloons and other festivities, and I hope they do it!
Things you may want from them -
- Birth certificates and death certificates that are public records held at the archive and not yet on Ancestry.com. Go here for details if you are unsure of what years that is.
- Pennsylvania colonial period land records, such as patents.
- Pennsylvania militia or national guard records.
- Their catalog is here and you can email them questions through the link on their website.
