Countdown to RootsTech: Let’s get ready together

Hello Reader!

RootsTech 2024 starting only 14 days from now, it's time to get into gear and prepare for what I call the Super Bowl of Genealogy.

The RootsTech Rundown: What's in Store

RootsTech isn't just massive in scale with tens of thousands of attendees, it's a powerhouse of energy, innovation, and community.

Every genealogy website and software company has been waiting until this event to unveil their latest advancements. We’ll be seeing upgrades from well-known providers Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, and FamilyTree Maker. We’ll also get surprises from new comers offering innovation with DNA research, record keeping, and story telling.

Key Highlights:

  • Over 250 educational sessions, with many recorded and live-streamed
  • Over 200 new online recorded sessions ready for viewing
  • A vendor hall featuring 120 exhibitors showcasing the latest genealogy tech and tools
  • Keynote addresses from Lynne Jackson, Henry Cho, and Steve Rockwood (CEO of FamilySearch)

Making the Most of RootsTech Online

Don't worry if you can't make it to Salt Lake this year! Here’s my advice on how to create an immersive RootsTech experience from anywhere. Think of RootsTech as your genealogy escape weekend 🏖️ (I know I am.).

Mark Your Calendars: Claim the Dates

Block out February 29 to March 2 on your calendar as your genealogy getaway – no different from going on an actual trip!

Power Hours: Tune in to Key Moments

Set reminders for the live-streamed sessions, particularly the middle-of-the-day programs that feature big reveals and keynote presentations. You might even spot Denyse there in the audience!

Make Time with Friends

Cook up some snacks and gather your friends, either in person or via video calls, to relive the thrill of the event with fellow genealogy buffs.

Register for Free

RootsTech online is free—just sign up with your FamilySearch account. Stay alert for class schedules and updates by subscribing to the event's emails when you register.

If you would like an insider’s view of RootsTech, you might enjoy my interview with long-time attendee and speaker, Cheri Daniels.

Stay tuned for the next newsletters, where we'll look into strategizing your class schedules for RootsTech and ensure you make meaningful cousin connections with Relatives at RootsTech.

Let's discover our Pennsylvania ancestors together,

Denyse Allen, PA Ancestors

P.S. Remember: Treat yourself to a genealogy weekend. You deserve the time to relax, kick back, and just enjoy yourself in your genealogy.

P.P.S. I'll be restarting my PA Ancestors Instagram for the event if you want to follow along. I'll also cross post these to Facebook so you can catch them there too.
